- Serena Williams retired out from 2021 Wimbledon due to a leg injury
- Williams is playing women’s doubles at Eastbourne with Ons Jabeur
- The 2022 Wimbledon will take place from June 27 to July 10
American great Serena Williams made a winning return after a one-year layoff as she and world no. 3 Ons Jabeur came from a set down to beat Spaniard-Czech pair of Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova 2-6, 6-3, 13-11 in the women’s doubles at the Eastbourne International on Tuesday.
Williams had not played professional tennis since retiring out from last year’s Wimbledon in the first-round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich. She suffered a leg injury at the Championships, where she has won seven of her 23 major titles.
“It was so fun to play with Ons,” Williams said. “We had fun.
“I caught some fire behind me! I needed that. It was good. We’re just taking it one day at a time.”
